Western Obstetrics believes in the importance of delivering high quality of care. Part of this commitment is centred around ensuring that all results are followed up and appropriate management is put in place regarding the outcome of these results.
We believe that all results should be discussed and as a practice we believe that the best way to discuss results is in person, although on some occasions we may indicate that the results can be discussed by phone. At the time of organising an investigation, we will indicate to you:
- Why we are doing the investigation.
 - When the results will be discussed.
 - Make an appointment for the discussion of the result and organise appropriate follow up.
 - In consultation with you, if we agree to provide the result by telephone, we will make a telehealth phone consultation with you on leaving your appointment.

In some instances we may also utilise the practice SMS to let you know about a result.
Results can only be disclosed to the individual to whom they belong. In accordance with privacy regulations, we are unable to release results to any other person without the patient’s written consent. The only exception applies to minors, where results may be provided to their parent or legal guardian.
While we understand that finding out the result in person might be difficult, we also believe in the importance of ensuring that the highest quality of care is delivered to every one of our patients.
If you are worried about a result, you can contact the practice and if deemed appropriate, we will schedule a telehealth consultation to discuss the result.
