Western Obstetrics offers a team-based approach to care, one that is midwifery-led with GP Obstetrician support and access to a team of maternity health service providers (including lactation consultants, a psychologist and women's health physiotherapist)
This team approach ensures your care is individualised to your specific needs and situation.
YOUR WESTERN OBSTETRICS PREGNANCY JOURNEY
INITIAL TRIAGE
Your first appointment with us will be an initial triage consultation with one of our midwives. During this consultation we will get to know a little about you, your pregnancy journey so far, previous pregnancies and what you expect with your pregnancy journey.
GP OBSTETRICIAN APPOINTMENTS
Your initial appointment with one of our GP Obstetricians will revolve around antenatal screening. This will include undertaking a thorough health and well-being check-up and the scheduling of appointments to see your GP Obstetrician throughout your journey, where they will regularly check your health and pregnancy progress.
MIDWIFE APPOINTMENTS
You will see your midwife at frequent intervals to monitor and manage your progress, whilst being provided with education and information along the way. These appointments will provide you with an opportunity to ask questions and understand what to expect along the way.
Both your GP Obstetrician and Midwife will discuss and assist you with; designing your pregnancy plan, monitoring health issues, bedside scans, radiology and pathology investigations, referrals as needed to other allied health services and importantly provide a referral to your choice of birthing hospital.
