Your Care Journey With Us

Our Public Shared Care model, we prioritise comprehensive, continuous support throughout your entire pregnancy and postpartum journey. We’re here for you every step of the way, offering a collaborative approach that ensures you receive the care you deserve. Here's a closer look at what your journey involves:

Your journey begins with a thorough initial assessment, where we confirm your pregnancy, discuss your medical history, and provide essential education on what to expect. We also offer optional Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) consultations to help you make informed decisions about genetic screening. Our team is here to answer any questions and guide you through the first steps of your pregnancy.

Throughout your pregnancy, you will have regular check-ups with our midwives and GPOs, ensuring your health and your baby’s development are closely monitored. These visits complement your public hospital appointments, providing a seamless, coordinated approach to your care. We focus on routine screenings, managing pregnancy symptoms, and preparing you for birth, ensuring you feel informed and supported every step of the way.

As your due date approaches, we help you understand your labour and birth options so you feel prepared and confident. We also coordinate with the public hospital where you plan to give birth, ensuring your medical history and pregnancy details are shared appropriately for a smooth transition to hospital-based care when the time comes.

Our Western Obstetrics GPOs are part of the maternity team at Osborne Park Hospital (OPH), while we can’t guarantee your baby will be delivered by one of our doctors, if you’re booked at OPH and live within the catchment area, there is the added benefit that one of our GPOs may be on duty at the time of your birth.

After birth, you will receive care from your midwife and GPO for up to six weeks postpartum. During this time, we provide postnatal check-ups to monitor your recovery, guidance on newborn care, and support for your emotional well-being. Whether you need help with breastfeeding, postnatal health concerns, or adjusting to life with a newborn, our team is here to assist you.

Your care continues well beyond the newborn stage, with ongoing GP and Allied Health services available for both you and your baby.

We provide:

  • Postnatal check-ups to monitor your recovery.
  • Breastfeeding support and infant feeding advice.
  • Routine childhood vaccinations to keep your baby healthy.
  • Developmental follow-ups for your baby up to 18 months postpartum.
  • Support for contraceptive choices, menstrual health, and family planning.
  • Ongoing paediatric care for common childhood concerns.
  • Specialised support for premature and high-risk babies, including coordinated follow-up and early intervention advice.

At Western Obstetrics, we’re here to support you at every stage of your pregnancy, birth, and postnatal journey—ensuring you receive the best possible care in a warm and professional environment.
