What it Costs

At Western Obstetrics, we provide antenatal care through three models, allowing patients to choose an option that suits their circumstances and preferences. Our team of GP obstetricians and midwives supports patients throughout their pregnancy, working in collaboration with public and private hospitals where required.

While there is a cost per consultation, some services associated with your care will be bulk billed. While some additional charges do apply for non-standard services and consultations with our allied health providers, we try to limit the gap where possible.

We offer three models of care:

  • Public Shared Care – Antenatal care with our GP obstetricians and midwives, working in collaboration with a public hospital where the baby will be delivered.

  • Private Shared Care – Antenatal care with our team, co-managed with specialist obstetrician Dr. Charles Armstrong, who provides private hospital delivery at St John of God (SJOG) Subiaco.

  • Midwifery-Only Model – Midwife-led pregnancy care for those who prefer continuous midwifery support, with the option to deliver at a public or private hospital of their choice.

If you need to see a member of our allied health team, there may be a small out of pocket expense. Importantly, we will let you know what these costs will be before you book in to see them.

All children under 16 years or age will be bulk billed.*

If you do not have Medicare, please ask us for a quote for your care.

*  Must have a valid Medicare card.

Designed to provide a structured and supportive approach to maternity care by combining the expertise of our midwives and GP obstetricians (GPOs) with the resources of the public hospital system for labour and birth. This model offers continuity of care wherever possible, while providing flexibility and affordability through public hospital services.

You will be cared for by our team of Midwives and your choice of GP Obstetrician. While there is a cost per consultation, some services associated with your care will be bulk billed. While some additional charges do apply for non-standard services and consultations with our allied health providers, we try to limit the gap where possible.

For patients that live in the Osborne Park catchment zone, your birth will be attended to by one of our Western Obstetrics GP Obstetricians, or the on call OPH medical team should the Western Obstetrics GP Obstetricians be unavailable.

For patients who live in all other catchment zones, your birth will be attended to by the medical team that is covering the labour ward at that hospital on the day of your delivery.

If you need to see a member of our allied health team, there may be a small out of pocket expense. Importantly, we will let you know what these costs will be before you book in to see them.
